The Merritt High School Oilerettes played before a packed stadium at the famous “Big House” in Oklahoma City over the weekend in the Oklahoma State 2A State Tournament. The Merritt ladies were joined by the Merritt Oilers in the boys’ bracket, being the only unseated team to make it to the state games. While the boys were beat out in the semi-finals, the Oilerettes brought home victories in all three games.
The Collegiate Activities Board (CAB) at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) is hosting its annual Bulldog Blitz talent show on Thursday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center.
The Red Carpet Community Theatre has welcomed Benjamin Dobbs to the stage numerous times over the past few years. He began his acting career 17 years ago on the Southwest Playhouse stage in Clinton. His first role was playing Will Parker in “Oklahoma.” Since that time, he has become a veteran in almost all aspect of theatre, except directing.
The Sayre Public Library would like to invite the community to a book presentation, “For the Love of Teddy” authored and now published by Pauline Ringer.
Spring 2024 began yesterday on 3/19, and will end on Friday, 6/21, when summer officially begins. By June, I am sure it will feel more like summer than spring! I do not look forward to the Oklahoma summer heat at all.

Sayre High School sophomore Kambryn Millar brought home the Grand Champion Overall with her barrow pig on February 26.
The Elk City Commissioners met for their regular meeting on Mon., March 4th, at 7 p.m., in City Hall. Commissioner Rick Shelton stood in for Mayor Cory Spieker. Jeff Waters gave the invocation, while Rocky Andresen led the flag salute. Shelton then opened the meeting to a public hearing concerning a proposed street closing.
