A 39-year-old Sayre man is being held in the Beckham County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond for larceny of an automobile and third-degree burglary.

The Elk City School Board met on May 13 for their final meeting of the 2024.
Western Technology Center campuses recently recognized students at the Year-End Awards Assemblies for student commitment with Outstanding Attitude, Outstanding Student, and Perfect Attendance Awards. A total of 199 spring quarterly perfect attendance awards were distributed and 13 students earned Perfect Attendance for the Year Awards. The following students earned Outstanding for the Year Awards. WTC is committed to “educating people for success”!
The Christian Church was crowded to capacity for the Memorial Day Service. A parade was headed by the Elk City Band followed by American Legion members in uniform and several organizations represented with floats and decorated cars. The American Legion float was a cemetery scene in Flanders Field with its twenty-four white crosses and a Red Cross nurse scattering flowers on the graves. The United Daughters of the Confederacy, the KKK and the American Legion Auxiliary were also represented. Following the service, the firing squad fired a salute over the graves at the cemetery and taps were sounded. All ex-soldiers’ graves were decorated.
