After the Big Elks beat Woodward to gain a berth into the State Championship playoff s, several players bleached their hair in solidarity at the local vo-tech.
The Elk City boys beat Woodward last week 30-12.
Coach Maynard said, “The field was very wet, so it was a hard game to get your footing. We were able to run the ball and take shot in the passing game at times.”
Maynard added that the game was important to ensure their spot in the playoffs.
The Big Elks remain healthy with no reported injuries.
Maynard credited the entire team’s efforts, but noted two players by name.
“Kolton Sehi had some solid gains at the running back spot. Cole Buie had a couple big catches at wide receiver,” Maynard explained.
Maynard added that Buie had 150 receiving yards, Tucker Garza had 85 yards rushing, Sehi had 70 yards rushing, and Logan Webb had 150 yards passing.
The Elks play the first round in the playoffs on Friday against Tuttle.
