Officers initially began looking for the man after reports indicated that he made threats at a local business in southeast Elk City. Reports also indicated that the man struck a couple on a motorcycle in that area causing them to crash. Sheriff Derek Manning said the pursuit and shooting incident are still under investigation, and multiple agencies, including his, were involved, so few details are available at this time. “No officers were hurt in the shooting, and the suspect is deceased,” said Manning. “This office and others will release more information as it becomes available and appropriate to release.”

Elk City Track & Field saw four athletes take the podium at the OSSAA 3A-4A State Track & Field Meet in Ardmore this weekend. Junior Remi Murray tied for third place in the 4A girls pole vault with a jump of 10 feet, 6 inches. Junior Cooper Garbarino also placed third in the 4A boys pole vault with a jump of 13 feet. Junior Jack Morgan took 4th place in the 4A boys 3200 meter run with a time of 10:13:82. And senior Cooper Patton placed 4th in the 4A boys 100 meter dash with a time of 10:98.
