On October 30, an arrest warrant was issued for a 34-year-old Carter man for charges of possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.
The investigation was conducted by a game warden with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.
The investigation reportedly began at approximately 8:21 am on October 22 when the game warden was on routine patrol in Beckham County.
The game warden reportedly met with a Ford F-350.
“I spoke with the occupants of the pickup as we slowly passed each other, asking if anyone had done any good,” the game warden wrote in reference to deer hunting.
Dereck Wayne Beer was reportedly driving and allegedly answered that they had “done some good.”
The game warden reportedly saw a dead 5-point buck.
The game warden stated that he was familiar with Beer through an investigation from 2022 about alleged possible illegal hunting.
Beer allegedly admitted to being a convicted felon.
An unloaded firearm was reportedly in the truck.
Beer has a preset bond of $10,000.
