Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! I hope this week finds you celebrating all the blessings that we have been given during this past year and cherishing your family. Enjoy your get-togethers and if you are traveling, be safe! I was looking back at last year when I was writing this column and it was actually snowing that Sunday in 2022. I wish it was doing this today, but at least it is supposed to get colder from Thanksgiving on through the following week too.

A 36-year-old Sayre man has been released on a $1,500 from the Beckham County Detention Center after being charged with one felony count of eluding a police officer.

MARRIAGE LICENSES

The Elk City Commissioners met for their regular meeting Wed., Nov. 15th, at 2 p.m. in City Hall. The agenda was light, with a public hearing concerning 602 N. Oklahoma, Jones Bradley Lots 13-18, Blk 13 held prior to opening the meeting. The owner was unable to be present.

Every grade level of education bears its own unique value in a student’s development. Teachers work in unison to build upon a child’s successes of yesterday to promote the successes of tomorrow.

The Elk City School Board held their regularly scheduled meeting at the Elk City Board of Education at 6 pm on November 16.

Thanksgiving week is here, and the day of culinary over-indulgence, shopping and football has been celebrated. Gratitude sometimes gets lost in the multitude of other things so let’s consider the intense necessity of gratitude as a lifestyle especially when life is dif. cult and disap- pointing; rather than just one day annually, in good and plentiful times.

Elk City – As part of National Rural Health Day, Great Plains Regional Medical Center, today announced it has been recognized with a 2023 Performance Leadership Award for excellence in Outcomes. Compiled by the Chartis Center for Rural Health, the Performance Leadership Awards honor top quartile performance (i.e., 75th percentile or above) among rural hospitals in Quality, Outcomes and Patient Perspective.

The Annual Augusta Metcalfe Art Competition was held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Break O’ Day Farm & Metcalfe Museum. In total, there were 442 entries from 9 schools. There were 103 winning entries and $1,810 was given as award money. This competition began in 2004 and each year the entries get better and better. There is an exceptionally talented group of young artists in our area and some great instructors who helped their students develop their artistic skills.

STILLWATER, Okla. – While the corner of Farm Road and Monroe Street on the Oklahoma State University campus may currently be an active construction site for the new home of OSU Agriculture, OSU Landscape Services has plans to transform the area into a beautiful and educational landscape environment.
