Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) and Rose State College solidified a partnership aimed at expanding student opportunities in Music, Business, and Baccalaureate Track Nursing. The agreement was signed at Rose State College on Monday, Feb. 12, 2024.

On Presidents’ Day, we honor those founding fathers who built the groundwork of our democracy. George Washington, our first President, gave us our foundation. The many Presidents who have followed him continue to strengthen that foundation. Equally important, the Bible gives us our spiritual foundation; though our country grows and changes, God’s Word remains the same. “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (2 Cor 3:17). Worship this week and praise God for the foundation of freedom that we have been given.

Elk City woman held on $100,000 bail after being charged with trafficking fentanyl

A 37-year-old Elk City woman is being held on a $100,000 bond in the Beckham County Detention Center after being charged with trafficking fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia, and bringing contraband into penal facility.

Beckham/Roger Mills Unit of OREA gathered at Elk City United Methodist Church for the February 9, 2024 meeting. President Linda Long welcomed Glenda Ivins, Judy Haught, Larry Long, Cathy Lewis, Tana Feldman, Carla Garrison, Karen Whitely, June Lovelace, Suzanne Walker, Becky Newlin, Joyce Roberts, Stephanie Malone, Sharon Gilliland, Jan Attocknie, Dennis McRee, Gwen Pasby, Mary Fern Carpenter and guest Pam Holland, SW District Director. Retired teachers enjoyed the time of fellowship before the meeting began. As the morning progressed, Linda called the meeting to order. June gave the invocation and Judy led the flag salutes.
