The Sayre Eagle football team ended the 2023 season at home where they smothered Burns Flat-Dill City by the score of 34 to 0 on Senior Night last Friday Evening. The Eagles started the season one win and 4 loses but under the tutelage of Coach Craig Hixon and staff ended the second half of the season with 3 wins and one loss for a 4 win 5 loss record. Offensively Sayre outgained their opponents with a total of 2752 yards to 2724 yards. The offense was powered by running back Ayden Hendershot who had a season total of 1281 rushing yards. That brought him close to second place for the second most yards in a season held by Artie Puckett Jr. who ground out 1348 yards in 1972. R.J. Powell had eclipsed Puckett’s 1348 in the 2018 season to take over first place with a total of 1405 rushing yards. Eagles Swarm Over Texoma
The Sayre Eagle football team entertained the local fans that made the long trip to Texoma by blitzing the Red Devils by the score of 30 to 8 last Friday evening. Although Sayre lost 4 fumbles during the game, Hunter Hanrahan evened the books by intercepting three passes with two of those leading to touchdowndrivesof 66 and 21 yards. Hanrahans accomplishment put him in the company of 4 other Eagles who hold the record for interceptions in one game. Chad Kelley in 1992 against Waurika, Jason Keiner in 1996 and Jered Marriott in 2001 both against Bridge Creek and Trevor Lowry in 2006 against Snyder. 10/31/2023 11:00 PM

Mooreland outlasts the Eagles
The Mooreland Bearcats spoiled the Sayre Homecoming event when they outscored the Eagles by the score of 44 to 24 last Friday evening on Eagle field. Mooreland took advantage of an Eagle fumble and a blocked punt both in the second quarter with each turnover leading to a touchdown by the Bearcats and a 20 to 0 halftime lead in the game.
