SOUTHEAST Blue River: October 10. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 75°F and clear. (USGS Lake Level) Largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass good on crankbaits, jerk baits, topwater lures, and tube jigs around brush structure, channels, rocks, shorelines, and weed beds. Channel catfish fair on chicken liver, punch bait, and stinkbait around brush structure, channels, and rocks. The Sayre Eagle football team presented Coach Craig Hixon on his 50th birthday his 50th career victory as a head coach on Eagle field against the Merritt Oilers by the score of 30 to 20 last Thursday evening. Sayre took the opening kickoff and drove 52 yards in 12 running plays to put an early touchdown on the scoreboard. Jaden Mosser zipped the ball into the end zone from 3 yards out. Ayden Hendershot ran for the PAT and the score read 8 to 0 with 6:15 left in the first quarter. Mosser was on fire as he ran for 3 of the Eagles four touchdowns on the night and ended with 130 yards on 14 carries for a 9.3 yard per carry average. 10/17/2023 11:00 PM

The Sayre Eagles made the long road trip to Fairview last Friday evening where they were soundly defeated by the # 1 team in class A, Yellowjackets, by the score of 69 to 8. The powerful Yellowjacket team rolled up 242 yards rushing and 257 yards passing against the Eagles as they scored in every quarter of the contest. The Eagles’ pile driving running back, Ayden Hendershot had a good performance against the # 1 team when he rammed ahead 35 times for 154 yards and a 4.4 yard per carry average. Hendershot scored the Eagles only touchdown on a one yard plunge late in the fourth quarter following a ten play march that began on the Sayre 28 yard line. Camden Plummer tacked on the 2 point PAT giving the Eagles their 8 points for the night. 10/10/2023 10:00 PM

Ray Dean was raised in the Sweetwater-Mayfield area and graduated from Sweetwater Public School.
