Officers initially began looking for the man after reports indicated that he made threats at a local business in southeast Elk City. Reports also indicated that the man struck a couple on a motorcycle in that area causing them to crash. Sheriff Derek Manning said the pursuit and shooting incident are still under investigation, and multiple agencies, including his, were involved, so few details are available at this time. “No officers were hurt in the shooting, and the suspect is deceased,” said Manning. “This office and others will release more information as it becomes available and appropriate to release.”

The Elk City School Board met at 6 pm on May 8 for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting.
