A 36-year-old Elk City man has been released from the Beckham County Detention Center after being charged with drug trafficking, knowingly maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance violations and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The case was filed on July 14 in Beckham County District Court.

The investigation began on May 7.

At that time, Jose Acevado was arrested approximately 200 feet from his home for allegedly driving under suspension.

The officer reportedly asked the passenger for consent to search the passenger side.

The passenger reportedly agreed.

The passenger allegedly said that Acevado had thrown three bags in her lap, which reportedly contained a white substance.

The passenger allegedly said, “They had gone to the house to pick stuff up and were going to the casino in Hammon.”

A search warrant of the home was later authorized.

The report indicates that the search revealed paraphernalia, cash, digital scales, baggies “used to package controlled dangerous substances for sale,” syringes, straws, and multiple other items.

The baggies allegedly had a combined weight of 137 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
