Invasive Zebra Mussels Reach Tom Steed Reservoir

Invasive zebra mussels have been confirmed for the first time in Tom Steed Reservoir in Kiowa County, according to the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. The mussels were discovered by U.S. Bureau of Reclamation engineers during a recent routine dam inspection. The engineers took photos and sent them to ODWC for positive identification.

WILLA MAE DITMORE

Willa Mae Ditmore was born December 10, 1922 to Maude Huls in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She passed on May 19, 2024 in Elk City, OK at the age of 101 years, 5 months, and 9 days. Willa grew up in Clinton, OK attending and graduating in the Clinton public schools. She married to HC (Shady) Ditmore in 1942 and to this union four children were born Carl, Judy Ann, John, and David. Willa worked for Swift Trucking after high school as their secretary in Clinton. After Swift trucking she worked as the accountant for Clinton Sherman Air Force base. Finally she processed loans for Farmer Home Administration (FMHA) in Sayre, OK. She worked at FMHA for 30 years until her retirement.
