Mikinna was born October 22, 1988 to Frederica (Neal) and Thomas W. Faris, in Denver, Colorado. Heaven gained a beautiful angel on February 6, 2024 in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 35 years, 3 months, and 15 days.

I am thrilled to extend a heartfelt welcome to all SHS alumni as they come home for our much-anticipated annual alumni weekend. This event is a fantastic opportunity for each of you to reconnect with old friends and family and reminisce about those cherished moments from our high school days.

The King and Queen Court is as follows: Top Row, Emma Ferrero, Brooklynn Gatto, Makenna Valdez, Bottom row: Jose Flores, Devin Mosser and Ayden Hendershot. The King and Queen will be announced during the parade, the parade will begin Saturday, March 30 at 10:30 am.

The Sayre Alumni Association would like to welcome everyone to the 92nd Annual Sayre Alumni Weekend. The Sayre Alumni committee is fueled by the heart of the following volunteers: Mireya Cotts (1993), Brandi Hibler (1993), Billie Cook (1960), Brittany Hill (2007), Keeley Sanders (2007), Staci Diltz (1989) and Amy Hawley (1993). The Association is a nonprofit organization always looking for people to volunteer and keep our tradition going, to have plenty of people who can work together to keep activities running smoothly, is a blessing in itself. We would like to ask for our Alumni to pay your $10 dues, to help us keep the tradition going, please fill out the form and include your email, in order to receive a quarterly newsletter that we are working to implement soon.

The Friends of the Sayre Public Library (FOTSPL) are hosting a dinner theater as a fundraiser to help get the library a storage building.

There will be a Kids Cruise, part of the Erick OK Route 66 Renewal program, that will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, 4/6. Registration will begin at 8:30. Cruises will be either a 1/2 mile or 1 mile distance. All “wheels” will be accepted including bikes, strollers, wagons, or training wheels and all ages are welcome also. Elk City’s Chris Whinery’s recent permit request concerning the construction of a crematory was the only item on the agenda at the Tues, March 26th, Elk City Planning and Zoning Board, at 6 p.m., in City Hall. The area has been zoned C-2, Highway Commercial and Commercial Recreation District, since 1995. The issue became under scrutiny with a written protest from Richard and Tammy Dugger of Martin – Dugger Funeral Home. After hearing from both sides of the proposed construction, the board voted to approve a crematory being located in a C-2 Highway Commercial and Commercial Recreation zoning.

The most important task we have as parents and members of society is equipping our children for life after graduation. A group of concerned citizens established the Sayre Public School Foundation in 1992 as a non-profit promoting quality education.
