A 57-year-old Hobart woman was charged in Beckham County for trafficking 20 grams or more of amphetamines or methamphetamines, driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance other than alcohol and possession of paraphernalia.
The investigation began at approximately 6 am on October 24 when the Beckham County Sheriff ’s Office dispatched a deputy to a reckless driver call that was eastbound on Interstate 40 at the 1-mile marker.
The reporting caller said the vehicle was a maroon Toyota car that was allegedly “all over the roadway, even driving into the ditch at one point.” The vehicle was said to have hit something on the interstate in Texas that had ripped its bumper off. The vehicle continued though. At approximately 6:24 am, the deputy observed a vehicle matching that description pass at the 20-mile marker traveling east.
The deputy made a stop and identified the driver as Christi Walker.
A field sobriety test allegedly showed Walker to be under the influence of something other than alcohol.
Walker allegedly could not accurately state where she was and her travel route reportedly didn’t make sense to the deputy.
The deputy believed her speech was consistent with someone “high on methamphetamine.”
Walker reportedly granted permission for her vehicle to be searched.
The deputy reportedly found two bags with suspected methamphetamine and two syringes with clear liquid.
Walker allegedly stated the liquid was methamphetamine.
The total weight of alleged methamphetamine found was 47 grams.
