On Friday, the Elk City Big Elks Football squad traveled to Chickasha to take on the Chicks.
The Big Elks were accompanied by hundreds of Elk City fans, enough to fill the visitors’ side.
The Big Elks jumped out to an early end in the first quarter and held onto that lead until the end.
The final score was a commanding 42-18.
The score at the end of the first quarter was 8-6 in Elk City’s favor.
The second quarter still showed a close game, but an Elk lead.
The score was 20-12. The Big Elks held Chickasha to no points in the third but tacked on their own touchdown and 2-point conversion. The Big Elk offense exploded in the fourth quarter for a final score of 42-18.
Coach Maynard said, “Goal line stand in the third quarter gave us all the momentum. Offense and defense played well. It is the most complete game we have played this year.”
Coach Maynard also noted that the game was an important district game.
“This makes this week’s game with Weatherford for who will get the 2-seed in the District,” he added.
