Remi Murray signs track scholarship with SNU

On Friday morning, in the Commons at Elk City High School, Elk City High School Senior, Remi Murray, daughter of Melody and Jarrod Murray, signed letters of intent scholarship with Southern Nazarene University Remi will be competing in pole vault for the SNU track team. Her coach will be Mark Heard, former ECHS track coach and Oklahoma Track and Field Hall of Famer.

(USACE Lake Level) Crappie fair on hair jigs, minnows, and tube jigs around brush structure, docks, and main lake. Blue catfish good on shad around channels, main lake, and points. On Thursday, in the Commons at Elk City High School, Coleman “Kash” Mayfield officially signed his letters of intent to pitch for Oklahoma State University Kash has been a nationally recognized pitcher for several years during his junior high and high school career. He has played in tournaments and leagues throughout the country but is most proud to pitch for his school team, the Big Elks, under Head Coach Jay McClure.

The Erick City Council has approved the creation of the Veteran’s Memorial Monument at 205 S Sheb Wooley. To help kick off this project, there will be a flag-raising on Friday, 11/10, at 10:30 a.m. at 205 S. Sheb Wooley, across from Erick City Hall. The event will follow a veteran’s breakfast at the First Baptist Church and a veteran’s program at the grade school. The Sayre Eagle football team ended the 2023 season at home where they smothered Burns Flat-Dill City by the score of 34 to 0 on Senior Night last Friday Evening. The Eagles started the season one win and 4 loses but under the tutelage of Coach Craig Hixon and staff ended the second half of the season with 3 wins and one loss for a 4 win 5 loss record. Offensively Sayre outgained their opponents with a total of 2752 yards to 2724 yards. The offense was powered by running back Ayden Hendershot who had a season total of 1281 rushing yards. That brought him close to second place for the second most yards in a season held by Artie Puckett Jr. who ground out 1348 yards in 1972. R.J. Powell had eclipsed Puckett’s 1348 in the 2018 season to take over first place with a total of 1405 rushing yards. Powell is finishing his football college career this year at SWOSU.
