Oklahoma Wildcatters Go 1-1-1 at PBR Camping World Team Series Event in Sunrise, Florida to Rise to No. 2 in the League
SUNRISE, Fla. – At the third PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Camping World Team Series event of the season this past weekend in Sunrise, Florida, the Oklahoma Wildcatters went 1-1-1 in game play to rise to No. 2 in the league standings.
The J.B. Mauney-led Oklahoma Wildcatters rode to victory Friday evening, beating the Kansas City Outlaws by 90.25 points, 264.75-174.5. While the Outlaws jumped to an early lead in the bottom of the first courtesy of a score from Sandro Batista, the Wildcatters quickly took it back in the top of the second via a ride from Eduardo Matos, never relinquishing the lead again.
While the Outlaws briefly inched within 0.5-point of the lead, Josh Frost delivered a crucial ride in the top of the fifth to force Kansas City into a must-ride position, needing a score of 90.5 points or more from closer Cassio Dias to win the game. While Dias earned a re-ride on his initial bovine athlete opponent, he then uncharacteristically came down in 4.89 seconds atop his second bull to deliver Oklahoma the win, 264.75–174.5.
Oklahoma then took on the host Florida Freedom when game play continued Saturday evening. While Clay Guiton registered a key 85.75-point ride in the top of the first for Oklahoma, it was not enough to stave off a walkoff win by the Freedom, delivered to them by their closer, and teenage phenom John Crimber who bested Bambino for 86.5 points.
The Wildcatters then turned their focus to Sunday, eager to conclude their time in Florida with a win as they squared off against the league No. 1 Carolina Cowboys. The showdown, however, ended in a tie, 175.25-175.25, in the season’s first game to end deadlocked.
Carolina jumped to an early lead in the first out, courtesy of a game-best score from opener Cooper Davis, who is now 6-for-7 this season and No. 2 in the MVP race, but Oklahoma clawed within 3 points when leadoff man Matos also made the whistle. In the bottom of the third, Oklahoma overtook the game lead by 86 points via a score fromCort McFadden.
Buckoffs from both teams in the fourth set up a crucial fifth frame. Carolina closer Sage Kimzey delivered for the Cowboys, but his 86-point ride on Kenny was only enough to tie the game. While Oklahoma had the chance to win the game in walk-off form, Guiton was unable to answer the call for his squad, brought down in 5.99 seconds by Good.
The tie led the Wildcatters to conclude PBR Freedom Days having gone 1-1-1, now 4-3-1 this season. The team rose from No. 4 to No. 2 in the league standings, now trailing the No. 1 Carolina Cowboys by two game wins.

Mauney-led contingent from the Sooner State an 85.75-point lead as he rode Little Joe. In the bottom of the fourth, Florida failed to respond as Elizmar Jeremias came down in 4.26 seconds atop Hoobastank. Freedom Head Coach Paulo Crimber, however, threw his challenge flag, believing the bull fouled himself. As the fifth got underway, Oklahoma had the chance to clinch the game win early by pulling two scores ahead with just one Florida rider remaining. In the possible victory-winning moment was the Wildcatters’ closer Josh Frost on Mo Money. While Frost appeared centered, he was unseated in a close 6.79 seconds, opening the door for Florida to win in walk-off fashion. The game then came down to generational talent, and teenage phenom John Crimber on Bambino for Florida.
