OSU Extension specialists available to answer food, water and livestock safety questions after the storm

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State University Extension specialists are available this week for Zoom interviews on the following topics related to tornado recovery efforts.

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State University Extension specialists are available this week for Zoom interviews on the following topics related to tornado recovery efforts.

Food safety – answering questions about food spoilage after flooding and extended power outages.

Christi Evans, OSU Extension assistant specialist in nutritional sciences Water quality – answering questions on how much water to store and in what type of container before a storm as well as what problems can exist in drinking water, how to disinfect water and how to know if water needs to be disinfectedafter a storm.

Jeff Sadler, OSU Extension specialist in water resources Hardware disease in cattle and other livestock – answering questions about the threat of hardware disease (when livestock ingest metal and other storm debris while grazing in fields and pastures).

These specialists can discuss how to prevent it, how to recognize the often fatal condition and how to treat it.
