USDA to Host Two In-Person Workshops in Oklahoma To Focus on Livestock Risk Management Products

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla., December 11, 2023 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is hosting a series of in-person and virtual workshops for producers to learn about new and expanded livestock risk management products. The “Livestock Roadshow,” hosted by USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA), will highlight policy improvements based on feedback from America’s livestock producers, part of the agency’s broader outreach and education efforts. The next two events will be held in-person on: January 10, 2024, from 1 to 4 pm CT at Great Plains Career Tech, in Lawton, Okla.

The tradition continued with the Miss Elk City/Queen of the West Contest Saturday evening at 6. p.m., in the Kelli O’Hara Performing Arts Center, with Samantha Rother being named Miss Elk City Teen, Angela Nichols crowned Miss Elk City, and Lexi Neahring was presented the Queen of the West crown. Lake Carpenter was the host for the event and kept the show moving through the various competition categories.

Largemouth bass, crappie, and saugeye slow on crankbaits, hair jigs, lipless baits, minnows, plastic baits, PowerBait, and small lures around brush structure, docks, main lake, points, shorelines, and weed beds. Striped bass hybrids and white bass fair on crankbaits, lipless baits, plastic baits, and small lures around docks, main lake, and rocks. Blue and channel catfish fair on chicken liver, cut bait, dough bait, live bait, minnows, shrimp, stinkbait, and worms around creek channels, docks, main lake, rocks, and shorelines.
