Voters in Roger Mills County who want absentee ballots mailed to them for elections in 2024 should apply now, County Election Board Secretary Jana Maddux said today.

All active, reserve, and veterans of the military are invited to attend the Jan. 13th Western Oklahoma Bulls game against the Knights, at the Arrowhead Center. The game will start at 6 p.m., and general admission tickets for military will be $4 each.

Wow, we are already in the second week of 2024! Time is going very fast I think with never enough time in each day. I have heard on the local news that we better gear up for winter finally hitting Western Oklahoma! It’s supposed to turn bitterly cold for several days, and possibly some snow falling here too.

Berlin Community Center will have a Stew and Chili dinner on Saturday January 13 at 6:00. Bring a dessert and come join us for a wonderful time of fellowship.

Elk City mother Courtney (Levitt) LeGrand has lived in the community her entire life. Her parents Cindy and Morgan were both well known in the community.

The Elk City Commission met for their regular meeting Monday, Jan. 2nd, at 7 p.m. in City Hall. This first official meeting of the new year lasted 18 minutes due to a brief agenda. Mayor Cory Spieker called the meeting to order and gave the invocation. Commissioner Rocky Andresen was the only one absent.

At the beginning of each new year, I have a tradition with the two men who represent Beckham County. We discuss their top three goals for the incoming session.

This is the transitional time of each year when we consider more seriously how we’re going to begin the New Year, and what we’d like to change in the days ahead. I often hear frustration that New Year’s resolutions don’t last much past the middle of February. Consequently people often give up before they begin and don’t even bother to set any kind of goal. How can we have a different outcome in 2024?
