Merritt Elementary first graders learn about Earth Day

Dalmatians have long been associated with firefighting. According to the American Kennel Club, Dalmatians commonly ran with carriages, guarding the people or goods inside, as early as the mid-1700s.

By now, many Elk Citians and Beckham County residents know that the dirt work being done near the intersection of Washington and Broadway in Elk City is in preparation for the Elk City Fire Department firehouse being built.

STILLWATER, Okla. – Wheat producers in southwest Oklahoma are reporting stripe rust disease in their fields, and Oklahoma State University Extension wheat pathologist Meriem Aoun says cases have spread north to Stillwater.

When Cathy Cummings died earlier this year, her husband Sean wanted to honor her memory of what she held dear. The couple lived in Oklahoma City, so Sean started first by paying off school lunch debt close to home.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph T. Gregory celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary! Mr. Gregory commented that it did not seem like more than ten or fifteen years since they were married, and that his bride was still his sweetheart.
