A 60-year-old Los Angeles man is being held in the Beckham County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond after being charged with one count aggravated heroin traffi cking, one count aggravated cocaine trafficking, and one count aggravated methamphetamine trafficking.
The investigation began at approximately 2:34 pm on June 20 when an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper was parked on the south side of Interstate 40 near the 38mile marker working eastbound traffic.
The trooper reportedly observed a Volkswagen SUV bearing California tags allegedly traveling in the passing lane with no other cars close by.
The trooper initiated a traffic stop.
The driver was identified as Eric Michael Tucker.
The trooper could allegedly smell burnt marijuana, but stated that he did not confront Tucker about the odor.
The trooper informed Tucker that his patrol car has video and records audio, and asked Tucker to sit in the patrol car while the trooper issued a ticket.
“While conducting business, Tucker was extremely nervous, even though he knew he was going to receive a warning,” the trooper opined.] Due to Tucker’s alleged nervousness, the trooper requested a drug K9.
The dog allegedly alerted on Tucker’s rental car.
During the vehicle’s search, troopers allegedly located a twenty pound bag of methamphetamine, a 2.42 pound bag of heroin, and a 1.33 pound bag of cocaine.
