Registration is open for the 25th annual University of Central Oklahoma Endeavor Games, an opportunity for athletes with physical disabilities to participate in various competitive sporting events, June 6-9, on Central’s campus and throughout the Edmond, Oklahoma, community.

STILLWATER, Okla. – The popular Food, Fun, 4-H program is back in the kitchen this summer, but with a twist. In previous years, Oklahoma youth prepared main and side dishes, but this year’s series will focus on baking and how STEM is involved, including a lesson on cupcake coding.

By now, many Elk Citians and Beckham County residents know that the dirt work being done near the intersection of Washington and Broadway in Elk City is in preparation for the Elk City Fire Department firehouse being built.

Sweetwater Kindergarten Class of 2024

Beckham County Student Resource Officer, Wendi Holland, arranged for area schools including Erick, Sweetwater and Merritt to participate in the Highway Safety Department’s Choices Matter program. Guest speaker Ethan Fisher shared his story about the struggles he faced with bad choices that caused him to turn away from college basketball scholarships and eventually spending time in prison.

Cade Simmons

A 36-year-old Elk City man has been charged with domestic assault and battery by strangulation in the Beckham County District Court. The investigation began on April 9 when police were called to an Elk City home in reference to an alleged domestic assault and battery. The responding officer learned that the suspect, Kyle Cox, had left the scene.
