Elk City’s Chris Whinery’s recent permit request concerning the construction of a crematory was the only item on the agenda at the Tues, March 26th, Elk City Planning and Zoning Board, at 6 p.m., in City Hall. The area has been zoned C-2, Highway Commercial and Commercial Recreation District, since 1995. The issue became under scrutiny with a written protest from Richard and Tammy Dugger of Martin – Dugger Funeral Home. After hearing from both sides of the proposed construction, the board voted to approve a crematory being located in a C-2 Highway Commercial and Commercial Recreation zoning. 03/29/2024 10:00 PM

Oklahoma Thunder is on top of the Western Conference by a mere ½ game over Minnesota Timberwolves and the Denver Nuggets. All three teams have 47 wins, however, Oklahoma has 20 losses versus 21 for Timberwolves and Nuggets. LA Clippers is five games behind. Season ends mid April and playoffs will start on April 20. Long way to go, but Oklahoma Thunder should make the playoffs. Hopefully, winning the West Conference. 03/22/2024 11:00 PM

There were no games to report on soccer, as many of the kids took off for spring break. The next game for Coach Xenos and Coach Stamm’s teams will be Tuesday, March 26 at home against Weatherford. This will be a district game, so it becomes more important. Both girls and boys have a perfect record of 3-0, but, no matter what Weatherford record is, being a district game it becomes a tough game, and certainly one good game to watch. Bring some food and drinks so you can stay for both games. Girls play at 5:30 and boys at 7:30. Any predictions? 03/22/2024 11:00 PM
