December saw lots of train and building news, some snow and sleet, and letters to Santa Claus. Despite a special meeting called to endorse the bridge bond issue of $300,000 (over $5,268,000 in today’s values), it was roundly defeated by a vote of over two to one. John Dewees and his brother were awarded the contract for a new brick building. The new structure was built for Arthur Burke and Matt Krontz who would each occupy half the building. Mullin Leads Black Vulture Relief Act to Protect Farmers and Ranchers from Burdensome Federal Overreach
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (ROK) along with Sens. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) and Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), introduced the Black Vulture Relief Act to allow farmers and ranchers to protect their newborn livestock from black vultures without burdensome government interference. Mullin’s legislation provides regulatory relief by allowing farmers and ranchers to take black vultures anytime the birds threaten their livestock without a depredation permit. 12/05/2023 11:00 PM

(USACE Lake Level) Crappie fair on hair jigs, minnows, and tube jigs around brush structure, docks, and main lake. Blue catfish good on shad around channels, main lake, and points.
