The November meeting of the Washita NSDAR was held on November 13, 2023 at the Café Clinton with the Vice Regent, Doris Minor, and Chaplain Judy Tracy opening with the DAR Ritual. Leading the Pledge of Allegiance was Evely Hart, followed by the American’s Creed by Marilyn Wilson, Robetha Fariss leading the preamble to the Constitution and State Regent, Nancy Lisle, led the Oklahoma Flag Salute.

Elk City Motorsports Park to Honor Track Champions

Rod Fauver and Joe McConnell from the Elk City Motorsports Park announced their 2023 Track of Champions banquet that will be held Dec, 16th, at the Canyon Conference Center, located at 11552 OK-6 in Elk City. It will begin at 6 p.m. and run until midnight. The cost is $25 if purchased prior to Dec. 8th or $30 at the door. The ticket for admission includes a spread of grilled and buffet foods, soft drinks, and beer. It will be BYOB for anything else that a person might want to drink. The Beckham County Health Department will be holding a Community Health Day from 10 am to 3 pm on December 14. The event with be at the Nazarene Church, located at 816 West 6th Street in Elk City.

It is a rare opportunity to have one national celebrity perform in Elk City, but on Friday, Dec. 9th, at 7 p.m., two will be on stage at the Susan Powell Auditorium. Susan Powell and her husband, Richard White will be presenting, “A Hometown Christmas,” returning to the stage where Powell started her career. This special show has been sponsored by the Elk City Arts Council, the Elk City Chamber of Commerce, Elk City Tourism, as well as other local supporters.
