We have several Elk City Athletes who play at various colleges around the state and elsewhere. We would like to get information from their parents, teachers or relatives about them or their team performances for local information.

NORTHWEST Canton: March 24. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 58°F and clear. (USACE Lake Level) White bass, crappie, and walleye fair on jigs, minnows, and worms. Report submitted by Brayden Hicks, game warden stationed in Blaine County.

Both, boys and girls, played Weatherford on Tuesday March 26. It was a district game, and both teams lost 5-0. In the first game, the girls could not get past midfi eld with any offensive plays. It looked as if the team from Weatherford predicted exactly what Elk City had in mind in every play. Weatherford had a much greater defense and was well organized from midfield up, creating many goal opportunities. Jolee King, the Elk City girls’ goalie had at least three fabulous stops on the second half and was busy all night.

On Monday, March 18, Elk City won 7-0 versus Valliant H.S. Offense: Rylan Parks 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 RBI; Max Trotter 2 hits,

There were no games to report on soccer, as many of the kids took off for spring break. The next game for Coach Xenos and Coach Stamm’s teams will be Tuesday, March 26 at home against Weatherford. This will be a district game, so it becomes more important. Both girls and boys have a perfect record of 3-0, but, no matter what Weatherford record is, being a district game it becomes a tough game, and certainly one good game to watch. Bring some food and drinks so you can stay for both games. Girls play at 5:30 and boys at 7:30. Any predictions?

Oklahoma Thunder is on top of the Western Conference by a mere ½ game over Minnesota Timberwolves and the Denver Nuggets. All three teams have 47 wins, however, Oklahoma has 20 losses versus 21 for Timberwolves and Nuggets. LA Clippers is five games behind. Season ends mid April and playoffs will start on April 20. Long way to go, but Oklahoma Thunder should make the playoffs. Hopefully, winning the West Conference.

Every year sports fans look into the finals of certain sports or majors in other sports; NBA’s playoffs, Superbowl, Wimbledon, NCAA, U.S. Open, etc, but March, is “March Madness” with the top 64 teams in Division I of men and women to decide a National Champion in both, men and women’s teams.
