Due to printing and delivery schedule changes, the Beckham County Record will be changing from a Wednesday publication to a Saturday publication. The first edition on this new schedule will arrive in mailboxes Saturday, February 10, 2024.
In a special election, Tues, Jan 9th, the voters of Beckham County approved the proposition proposed by the Board of County Commissioners to levy and collect a temporary onetenth of one percent (.10%) sales tax for the purpose of distributing equal shares of collection to all fire departments in Beckham County.
I am pretty sure I heard the weather people on KOCO 5 say that we had not seen temperatures that low since 2002. I believe it! I am a fan of winter, but that was pretty, darn chilly! After single digit low temps Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday will be a balmy 47 degrees! I just wish we could get some of the white stuff along with it!

January 9, 2024 at the Café Clinton, the Washita Chapter NSADAR held the first meeting of the year. The Regent Kay Hagerman opened the meeting with the assistance of the Chaplin Judy Tracy. The group recited the Pledge of Allegiance, the American’s Creed, the Preamble to the Constitution and the Oklahoma Flag Salute.
Sayre Public Schools School Resource Officer Andrea Weygand praised Sayre students in the first grade for their attentive listening and understanding of a very important lesson – keeping their hands to themselves.
The Sayre American Legion is launching their annual membership drive. Kay Allen said the group is currently recruiting ladies to join their efforts in 2024.
Superintendent Danny Crabb and the Sayre Public Schools thanked school board members Brandon Hickey, Bandy Silk, Russell Mariano, Michael Spieker and Jessica Kennemer for their service to education and the community.
