The Indigenous Student Association (ISA) at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) will be hosting the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes’ Tradition Not Addiction program. Christian Wassana, founder of the motivational movement, “I Am, I Can, I Will,” is the guest speaker for this event, as he has worked closely with the youth and young adults about drug and alcohol prevention, culture, mental health, and suicide prevention.

The Elk City Commissioners met for their regular mid-month meeting, Tues., Jan 17th, at 2 p.m., in City Hall. All commissioners were present except Rocky Andresen. Mayor Cory Spieker gave the invocation, while Rick Shelton led the flag salute. They approved the minutes from the Jan. 2nd meeting, then went straight into item one on the agenda.

SOUTHEAST Blue River: January 16. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 33°F and clear. (USGS Lake Level) Rainbow trout good on in-line spinnerbaits, midges, nymphs, PowerBait, small lures, spoons, and worms around brush structure, creek channels, and rocks. Comments: About 90% of the river is frozen over right now. The only water that is not frozen over is the water right above and below falls. Report submitted by Ethan Lovelace, biologist at the Blue River Public Fishing and Hunting Area.
