Early voting begins Thursday, February 29 th for voters in Roger Mills County who would like to vote in the March 5 th Presidential Preferential Primary Election. Voters who will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day, have the option of voting early at their County Election Board.

Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) is proud to announce the release of the 2023 Fall Graduates List. A total of 423 students completed their degree requirements during the Fall 2023 semester and are honored in this list. Held on Friday, Dec. 15, the ceremony took place at the Pioneer Event Center on the Weatherford campus.

Voters in Roger Mills County, who are eligible to vote in the Hammon School District, and want absentee ballots mailed to them for the April 2 nd Board of Education General Election should apply now, County Election Board Secretary Jana Maddux said today.

STILLWATER – U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Oklahoma State Director Kenneth Corn announced today that the Biden-Harris Administration is investing more than $2 million to support small or emerging businesses in Oklahoma via the USDA Rural Development Rural Business Development Grant (RBDG). This program promotes economic development and job creation projects through the awarding of grant funds to eligible entities. Applications will compete in two separate categories, business opportunity grants and business enterprise grants, for use in funding various business and community projects that serve rural areas.

The Elk City Commissioners faced a full agenda during their mid-month meeting that was held Wed., Feb. 11th, at 2 p.m., in City Hall. All commissioners were present when Mayor Cory Spieker opened the meeting for a public hearing concerning dilapidated structures after the invocation and flag salute.

Western Oklahoma Christian School (WOCS) recently named students of the month for November, December, and January at the Elk City campus. Students must demonstrate respect for their classmates, teachers, and staff, show personal responsibility, and have a good attitude. Lucille’s Roadhouse sponsors these awards.

Beckham/Roger Mills Unit of OREA gathered at Elk City United Methodist Church for the February 9, 2024 meeting. President Linda Long welcomed Glenda Ivins, Judy Haught, Larry Long, Cathy Lewis, Tana Feldman, Carla Garrison, Karen Whitely, June Lovelace, Suzanne Walker, Becky Newlin, Joyce Roberts, Stephanie Malone, Sharon Gilliland, Jan Attocknie, Dennis McRee, Gwen Pasby, Mary Fern Carpenter and guest Pam Holland, SW District Director. Retired teachers enjoyed the time of fellowship before the meeting began. As the morning progressed, Linda called the meeting to order. June gave the invocation and Judy led the flag salutes.

Oklahomans gathered at the Capitol last Thursday to participate in Higher Education Day. This annual event brings together students, professors, and administrators from institutions across the state to discuss the benefits of pursuing a college degree.
