SWOSU Indigenous Student Association Hosts Tradition Not Addiction Program

The Indigenous Student Association (ISA) at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) will be hosting the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes’ Tradition Not Addiction program. Christian Wassana, founder of the motivational movement, “I Am, I Can, I Will,” is the guest speaker for this event, as he has worked closely with the youth and young adults about drug and alcohol prevention, culture, mental health, and suicide prevention.

In a special election, Tues, Jan 9th, the voters of Beckham County approved the proposition proposed by the Board of County Commissioners to levy and collect a temporary onetenth of one percent (.10%) sales tax for the purpose of distributing equal shares of collection to all fire departments in Beckham County.

Merritt High School Earns Overall B in State Report Card
Merritt High School Earns Overall B in State Report Card

Merritt High School’s overall performance indicator for the 22-23 school year came in at 69 percent, while the state came in at 55 percent. The report card serves as an indicator of how the students are doing in a variety of areas. Those areas include academic achievement, graduation, chronic absenteeism, and postsecondary opportunities. MHS had no reportable data in the area of English language proficiency progress.
