Elk City woman charged with verbal abuse by a caretaker and abuse of an elder

A 50-year-old Elk City woman has been released from the Beckham County Detention Center on a $2,000 bond after being charged with abuse of an elder and verbal abuse by a caretaker.

The investigation began on July 26 when the Elk City Police Department was contacted by the Adult Protective Services in regards to alleged abuse that had reportedly occurred at a local care center.

The alleged victim was born in 1933 and reportedly suffers from dementia. Photo graphs were taken that reportedly showed bruises on the alleged victim.

A video was given to the detective by the facility that reportedly shows a nurse abusing the elderly woman.

Jeanette White is the nurse charged.

“You see White then walks around the corner aggressively toward (omitted) pointing at the wheeler chair and then slides the wheelchair behind her. The other nurse then walks away while (omitted) and White are talking to each other. You then see White quickly grab and jerk (omitted) by the right arm placing her in the wheeler chair and wheeling her off on two back wheelers of the chair. She then pales her in another section of the room and locks the wheelchair wheels,” the detective wrote.

The facility director spoke with the detective about the incident.

The director reportedly stated, “White then walks to (omitted) and grabs her by the arm and the back of her pants and pushes her down into to the wheelchair. (Omitted) had a bruise on her arm from White grabbing her during the incident. Photos will be attached.”

White was then terminated and the director contacted APS.
