Happiness is a state of being that many people talk about and long for, but few truly experience it. As I work with people, something that has become clear to me is that unhappy people often exhibit many of the same character traits and habits. Now there’s no questions that we all have bad days, even weeks when we step into all seven areas that I’m going to mention this week. The difference between a happy and unhappy life is how long we stay there. So here is the first characteristic of an unhappy person: 1. You believe life is hard, and you expect it to be hard, and you resent that it really is hard.

The annual Memorial Day Service was held at the Veterans’ Memorial at Fairlawn Cemetery, Monday, May 27th, at 10:30 a.m. Organizer Beckham County Sheriff Derek Manning welcomed the veterans and guests to the ceremony. He turned the program over to Shawn Wilson, who provided the sound system, and sang several patriotic songs.

The Erick-Texola Alumni Celebration this past weekend seemed to be a big hit with everyone! It was nice to see Erick so busy again with more people coming to town! I missed seeing several but maybe next time.

A 39-year-old Elk City woman is being held in the Beckham County Detention Center on a $500 bond after being charged with obstructing an officer and entering a home or property when it is expressly forbidden.

STILLWATER, Okla. – The Oklahoma State University Rural Renewal Initiative has selected participants for the new Research and Extension Experience for Undergraduates Scholars Program.

Approximately fifty friends, family, and supports of the late 42-year-old Colter Vaught were in the Beckham County District Court to see the man accused of causing Vaught’s death arraigned on a new charge of outraging public decency.
