Ancestry offers insights into autoimmune disease, OMRF studies find
OKLAHOMA CITY, Nov. 21, 2023 – People with African ancestry are three times more likely than those of primarily European descent to be diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called sarcoidosis, and they often experience more severe symptoms. However, research on the condition doesn’t reflect these statistics.

President Linda Long called the meeting to order and welcomed members Glenda Ivins, Cathy Lewis, Judy Haught, Nan Hubbard, Sharon Gilliland, Cindy Wood, Tana Feldman, June Lovelace, Dana Anderson, Carla Garrison, Dennis McRee, Janice Mollet, Larry Long, Jan Attocknie, Gwen Pasby and Kathy Noble. She also welcomed Veterans Elmo and Shirley May as special guests.

Christmas Basket Begins Fund Drive
The Elk City Christmas Basket, sponsored by the Elk City Ministerial Alliance has begun it’s Christmas Basket fund raising drive for the 2023 Christmas season. This program was begun in the mid 1930’s during the Great Depression by Paul Wade the late editor of the Elk City Daily News and continued by his son, the late LarryWade. Ithascontinuouslyprovidedfood items for approximately 85 years to people in need at Christmas time. This is possible thanks to the generosity of individuals in the Elk City area.

Loved Ones Celebrated at the Community Christmas Memorial
The annual Community Christmas Memorial sponsored by Comforting Hands Hospice and the Elk City Chamber of Commerce will take place Friday, Dec. 1st, at 6 p.m. at Carnegie Hall, located at 215 W. Broadway in Elk City. The event is designed to help family and friends to remember those they have lost but never forgotten during the holiday season.

Cheyenne, Oklahoma November 16, 2023 – As part of National Rural Health Day, Roger Mills Memorial Hospital, today announced it has been recognized with a 2023 Performance Leadership Award for excellence in Quality & Patient Perspective. Holiday gift guide for long-term care residents
The holidays are upon us, especially at all the stores! This article is a reminder to remember those loved ones and friends who are in long-term care. Many of the facilities have a list posted at the front entrance of things needed for residents either as prizes for bingo or gifts for holiday baskets. Activity directors work on a very limited budget to provide special things for residents.
