Sayre Vs Cordell Football

The Sayre Eagle football team opened the 2023 season by traveling to Cordell where they captured a 48 - 0 win over the Blue Devils last Friday evening. The Eagle starters scored 42 points in the first half before turning over the second half duties to the Eagle reserves. Eleven Eagles divided their 36 rushing attempts with Hunter Hanrahan leading in yards gained with 46 yards on 5 carries followed closely by Ayden Hendershot with 42 yards on 5 carries and Coy Capehart with36 yards on 2 carries. The Eagle defense was smothering as they held the Blue Devils to only 2 first downs and a total of 32 yards in the game. Leading the defense in tackles was Capehart with 8 and Zeke Curtis with 7 stops.

(USGS Lake Level) Largemouth bass good on buzz baits, plastic baits, rogues, spinnerbaits, and topwater lures around coves, shallows, and shorelines. Crappie slow on minnows around brush structure. Bluegill, green, and redear sunfish good on minnows around shallows. Report submitted by Hank Jenks, game warden stationed in Delaware County.

The “Beast” Of Beauty

The desire for beauty is built into both men and women by our Creator who also loves beauty. Enjoying sunsets and sunrises, observing the emergence of flowers in the spring and bird-watching, convinces us of God’s love for beauty. There are many references to beauty and the adornment of beautiful brides in Scripture. So we know that the pursuit and cultivation of beauty is not in itself an evil thing. But we’ve all experienced the pain of allowing a good thing to become a wrong priority in our lives, so that it becomes deadly destructive. Trying to be “beautiful enough” becomes a powerful, insatiable “beast” that takes control of life.
