NORTHEAST Fort Gibson: January 20. Elevation is 1.5 ft. above normal and falling, water temperature 35°F and clear. (USACE Lake Level) Crappie slow on hair jigs, minnows, and tube jigs around brush structure, docks, and main lake. Blue catfish fair on cut bait and shad below the dam, channels, main lake, and points. Paddlefish slow snagging below the dam. Report submitted by Cody Morris, game warden stationed in Wagoner County.

Western Technology Center-Burns Flat Award Recipients
Western Technology Center- Burns Flat honored students during a recent Awards Assembly to recognize students who had perfect attendance during the Fall semester, and recognizing students with an Outstanding Attitude and/ or achieving the Outstanding Student Award per training program. Billy Arthur Lemmon Jr., 60, of Sayre, Oklahoma was born on September 25, 1963 in Sentinel, Oklahoma. He is the son of Billy Arthur and Artie Mae (Newton) Lemmon. He went to walk the golden streets of Heaven on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center, Elk City Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family.

John Charles (J.C.) was born to Dan and Goldie (York) Spitzer on August 24, 1932 at the homesteaded family farm near Berlin, Oklahoma. He passed away on January 18, 2024 having been surrounded by family and friends.

Kiwanis Kids Karnival Just Around the Corner
Once again, the Elk City Kiwanis Club will be hosting their biggest fundraiser of the year, their Kids Karnival. It will take place on Feb. 2nd and 3rd, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., in the Elk City Civic Center. Tickets can be purchased from any Kiwanis member or at the door, cash only. They are $25 for 50 tickets, which will be accepted at all of the game booths.

There is a new deadline for items to be put in the paper which means that I have to turn this column in by 3:00 on Wednesdays beginning this week, as they will be publishing on Saturdays now. So, for me, I need anything you want in the column by Tuesday evenings each week, so I have time to put it in because I have a full time day job that keeps me busy.
