The Elk City Chamber of Commerce’s Breakfast Club was held in Homestead Assisted Living of Elk City last Thursday morning. The assisted living center provided breakfast for local businesses and chamber members. Emcee Basil Weatherly opened the meeting, while the invocation was given by Kevin Akins, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church, and Weatherly led the flag salute.

On Thursday, October 5, 2023, the officers of the Business Professionals of America (BPA) were officially installed. The ceremony was held in the seminar room of the Western Technology Center (WTC) in Sayre. The ceremony involved a candle lighting ritual for each of the officers installed. Rehearsals are underway for Red Carpet Community Theatre’s holiday production of the classic stage play of “Miracle on 34th Street.” The show will open Nov. 10, run through the weekend, and then the following weekend of the 17th, 18th, and close on the 19th. Evening shows will start at 7:30 p.m. while the matinee will begin at 2:00 p.m. Tickets will go on sale Nov. 7th to the general public, and the season ticket holders can reserve their seats on Nov. 6th.

Calling the meeting order of the Washita Chapter on October 9, 2023, the Regent Kay Hagerman assisted by the Chaplin Judy Tracy, led the group in the Opening Ritual. It was followed by the group reciting the following : Pledge of Allegiance, American’s Creed, Preamble to the Constitution, Salute to the Oklahoma Flag and the singing of a patriotic song, accompanied by Doris Minor.
