Gas Prices Fall Despite Clouds of War
Domestic pump prices maintained their daily decline despite the uncertainty rippling through the oil market in the days since Hamas terrorists attacked Israel. Oil prices have risen a few dollars per barrel this week, but that is far from the roughly $40 per barrel temporary spike following last year’s Russian invasion of Ukraine. The critical difference is that Russia is a significant oil producer, while Israel and the Palestinian territories are not. The national average for a gallon of gas fell 12 cents since last week to $3.62.

Homestead of Elk City Hosts Breakfast Club
The Elk City Chamber of Commerce’s Breakfast Club was held in Homestead Assisted Living of Elk City last Thursday morning. The assisted living center provided breakfast for local businesses and chamber members. Emcee Basil Weatherly opened the meeting, while the invocation was given by Kevin Akins, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church, and Weatherly led the flag salute.

Colter Esparza, a student in the Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) Department of Biological and Biomedical Science, has been awarded 3rd place for his presentation, “Beyond sugar: what pancreatic cancer cells need to grow?” at the 29th Annual OK-LSAMP Research Symposium. The event was held on Sept. 23 at the Wes Watkins Center on the campus of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
