(USACE Lake Level) Striped bass hybrids and white bass fair on crankbaits, cut bait, jerk baits, jigs, live bait, live shad, spoons, and topwater lures around main lake, points, and riprap. Crappie good on grubs, hair jigs, jigs, live bait, minnows, small lures, spoons, and tube jigs around brush structure, creek channels, riprap, and standing timber. Blue, channel, and flathead catfish excellent on crawfish, cut bait, grasshoppers, live bait, live shad, shad, stinkbait, sunfi sh, and worms around creek channels, main lake, river channel, river mouth, rocks, and shorelines. Elk City Varsity Elkettes defeated Little Axe Varsity Indians 7-1 on Friday thanks in part to four runs in the first inning. Aubrie Pogue tripled, scoring one run, Emily Lowrance drew a walk, scoring one run, and Daycie Newman doubled, scoring two runs.

Hammon Varsity Lady Warriors scored 13 runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat Sayre Varsity Lady Eagles 16-3 on Tuesday.

Kayde Herndon drove in five runs on one hit to lead Merritt Varsity Oilerettes FP past Mooreland Varsity LadyCats 10-4 on Thursday. In the sixth inning, Herndon hit a grand slam to center field.

Elk City High School Cross Country runners improved their times in the second Meet of the season. The team competed against 227 runners at the Watonga Cross Country Invitational on August 26.

The Sayre Eagle football team opened the 2023 season by traveling to Cordell where they captured a 48 - 0 win over the Blue Devils last Friday evening. The Eagle starters scored 42 points in the first half before turning over the second half duties to the Eagle reserves. Eleven Eagles divided their 36 rushing attempts with Hunter Hanrahan leading in yards gained with 46 yards on 5 carries followed closely by Ayden Hendershot with 42 yards on 5 carries and Coy Capehart with36 yards on 2 carries. The Eagle defense was smothering as they held the Blue Devils to only 2 first downs and a total of 32 yards in the game. Leading the defense in tackles was Capehart with 8 and Zeke Curtis with 7 stops.

NORTHEAST Eucha: August 13. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 85°F and murky. (USGS Lake Level) Largemouth bass good on buzz baits, plastic baits, rogues, spinnerbaits, and topwater lures around coves, shallows, and shorelines. Crappie slow on minnows around brush structure. Trojans were victorious against Leedey Bison 4-2 on Monday.

Merritt Oilerettes JH scored five runs in the fourth inning, which helped them defeat Hinton JH 9-1 on Monday. Allie Britton doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, and Adisyn Krueger singled, scoring two runs.

Even though Merritt Varsity Oilerettes FP collected 10 hits to Canute Varsity Canute Trojanettes’s seven, they still fell 11-6 on Friday.
