KATHY SAWYER

KATHY SAWYER

Kathy Sharon Allison Sawyer passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on September 4, 1949, in Sayre, she lived her entire life in the community she loved, and where her heart and family remained at the center of everything.

Kathy was a graduate of Sayre High School, Class of 1967, where her beautiful alto voice earned her a spot in the prestigious All-State music ensemble. Music was always a passion of hers, and it was one of many talents she carried with grace throughout her life. After high school, she found her calling in several roles, working at the First National Bank, as well as various medical offices, and in an optometrist’s office. Yet, it was her time spent working with her father, TJ, in the oil and gas business that she cherished the most. Their bond was unbreakable, and the memories they created together shaped Kathy into the strong, compassionate woman she became.

On January 19, 1968, Kathy married Thomas Sawyer, and together, they built a life filled with love, adventure, and family. They were blessed with two wonderful children: their daughter, Stacy Heath (married to Dale), and their son, Shawn Sawyer (married to Shannon). Kathy’s legacy lives on through her beloved grandchildren: Ali Heath, Dalon Heath, Landon Sawyer. (married to Mercedi), Logan Sawyer. (married to Courtney), and her great-grandchildren: Makinlee, Jett, Brooks, and Beckham. Family was the heart and soul of Kathy’s life, and she treasured every precious moment spent with those she loved most.

Kathy was predeceased by her parents, TJ and Marie Allison, and her brother Scott Allison. She had the closest of relationships with her parents, and their love shaped her into the kind, loving soul that so many came to know and adore.

Anyone who knew Kathy could not help but love her. She had an extraordinary ability to make people feel seen, heard, and deeply valued. When her name was spoken, it was always said with affection, and the mere mention of her brought smiles to the faces of all who knew her. Kathy was the epitome of kindness, always finding ways to lift others up with her gentle, selfless nature. She had an unshakable optimism and radiated warmth wherever she went. The world was simply a better place because Kathy was in it.

Her love for travel and adventure was another example of her joyful spirit. She was happiest when surrounded by family, especially on trips to places like Hawaii, Alaska and the Cayman Islands, where she found peace and joy in the beauty of the world. Yet, it was not just the destinations that mattered to Kathy—it was the people she shared those moments with. No matter the setting, Kathy was happiest when all of her loved ones were together, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Kathy was also deeply supportive of her children and grandchildren, and she rarely missed a chance to cheer them on at sporting events, music events, and all kinds of other activities. She was their number one fan, always in the front row, her smile lighting up the room. Whether she was attending a game, listening to music, or simply spending time with her family, Kathy was a constant source of encouragement and love.

Kathy found great joy in playing games like cards and dominoes, a tradition she enjoyed with her family and especially with Tom. Every night, Kathy and Tom would sit down together for their favorite game of gin or dominoes. Despite having no strategy at all, Kathy always seemed to find a way to win, delighting everyone around her with her playful spirit and infectious laughter. These moments will remain in the hearts of her family, reminders of the joy and connection she brought to their lives.

Kathy leaves behind an enormous legacy of love, laughter, and memories that will never be forgotten. Her family and friends will always carry her spirit with them, and her influence will continue to shape their lives in profound ways. The world has lost an extraordinary woman, and there is a hole in our hearts that can never be filled. But we find comfort in knowing that Kathy’s love will live on in the stories we tell, the traditions we continue, and the love we share with one another.

Graveside services will be held at Monday, February17, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Lone Oak Cemetery.

Kathy will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
