Dorothy Locke

A service to celebrate the life of Dorothy Hardin Locke’s 88 years of life is scheduled at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Second Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas. Dorothy was born July 9, 1936, to John Hillyer and Ora Mae Locke Hardin in Sayre, OK. She married Bill Locke on August 10, 1956, at Lone Oak Baptist Church in Sayre, OK. She worked as a secretary supporting the Oklahoma State University Agricultural Extension program while Bill was completing his Ph.D. and at an abstract office in Parsons, Kansas. Upon becoming a mother, she devoted her time to her growing family and being a full-time homemaker. She still found time to volunteer as a director for the Parsons League of Women Voters, Texas Tech University Women’s Club and with Bill doing disaster relief, such as after hurricane Katrina. Her greatest volunteer passion was for the Second Baptist Church Sick Children’s Clinic, where she volunteered and served as director or co-director for over 40 years.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Jon and wife Amy Locke; James and wife Ruth Ann Locke; grandchildren, Maria Locke; Madison and husband Troy Chester; Brandon Locke, Sydney Locke; Kirsten Locke; Cooper Locke; brother-in-law, Ronnie Stephens; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Locke; parents, John Hillyer and Ora Mae Hardin; grandchild, Thomas Locke; siblings, Bob Hardin, Cliff Hardin, Margaret Mayer, and Ann Stephens.
