Glenda grew up on Railroad Hill in Sayre, Oklahoma. She attended school at Sayre and at an early age began working at Hensley’s and Hodges nursing home. She met and was married to the light of her life, William “Bill” Eugene Putman, at Sayre, Oklahoma on July 15th, 1967. Together they moved to many places before settling in Sayre to raise their family in 1976. Shortly after moving back she ran the Sand’s Motel until she found employment as a dispatcher for the Sayre Police Department. Over her 33 year career with the police department she was certified as a police officer and court clerk all while raising her children. She retired in 2010 and was involved in anything her family was involved in She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles, horses, and spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; son, Billy; 2 sisters, Delores Leverett and Betty Piercy; 1 brother, O’Neal Mayfield; and 2 infant brothers.
Glenda is survived by 3 children, Ronald Putman and wife, Kelly, Elk City, OK, Ronda Goode and husband, Bobby, Elk City, OK and June Wilhelm and husband, Jason, Elk City, OK; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren on the way; 1 brother, Bob Mayfield and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 9th, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Trinity Fellowship officiated by Jason Wilhelm and assisted by Andy Taylor. Burial followed at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West Sayre. Condolences can be made online at www.classicfunerals. com
