Shirley grew up in Sayre and attended Sayre Public Schools. She graduated with the class of 1957. On June 24, 1958, she married Robert “Paul” Birdwell and to this union two children were born, Bobby and Regina. After Shirley married, they made their home in Sayre, Pampa, TX, Weatherford, Binger, and finally Burns Flat. She performed many jobs throughout her life which included a nursing assistant at Sayre Memorial Hospital, cook at Burns Flat High School, and also secretary at Burns Flat High School. She worked as the secretary for 22 years before she retired.

In her spare time, Shirley enjoyed camping and visiting with friends. She spent many hours working in her yard and taking care of her flowers. She loved to spend time with her family especially when it came to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Paul Birdwell, parents Reuben and Addie Morris, sister Myrtice Curl, and brother R.C. Morris.

She is survived by her children Bobby Birdwell and wife Jill of Burns Flat, OK, and Regina Birdwell of Burns Flat, OK; three grandchildren Megan Britton and husband Danny of Burns Flat, OK, Jake Birdwell of Corn, OK, and Katie Birdwell of Burns Flat, OK; two great grandchildren Bryler Britton and Zala Birdwell; sister Nina Jackson of Weatherford, OK; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
