JOYIS JONES

JOYIS JONES

Joyis Jones made her joyous arrival November 22, 2006, in Elk City, Oklahoma to Diana Contreras. She passed away August 26, 2024, in Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 17 years, 9 months, and 4 days.

Joyis grew into a beautiful young lady while living in Elk City, OK, where she attended Merritt Public School and was a proud senior in the class of 2025. Alongside being in her second year of cosmetology at Western Oklahoma Technology Center in Sayre, OK.

Since the age of 13 she has been a valued employee at Pedro’s Mexican Food. With a work ethic beyond her age, she quickly advanced from host, to serving, to managing the night shift. Joyis could do any job and do it well. She cared about the business and the customers, greeting all who entered with a big smile. She was a great co-worker, and friend who will live on in the hearts of all who worked with her.

She was the best big sister, not only to her own siblings, but to all the younger kids that she was around. She cared for them all, and really made the little kids feel special.

Joyis enjoyed make-up, hair, taking pictures, collecting live animals, and spending time with family and friends.

Joyis was the most beautiful person. A beautiful soul with a beautiful smile that could light up any room. She was a fierce lover of her family, friends, and animals. She was always making sure others were doing okay. Leaving a legacy that calls others to be kind and gentle to everyone, not just a certain group of people.

Her life calls us to engage with the lonely and give them value. She has inspired us to live a life that makes a difference in the lives of others. She showed us what a smile can do for people, and how it can brighten someone’s day. We will never ever be able to fill the void that’s left within our hearts; however we can honor Joyis by loving and forgiving each other and living the way Joyis did.
