MARJORIE STORY

Marjorie Genell Story was born June 8, 1929 in Hobart, Oklahoma to Purvis (Cliburn) Story and Francis F. Story. She passed away June 27, 2024 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 95 years and 20 days.

Marjorie graduated from Sentinel High School on May 8, 1947. She kept in touch with her classmates and attended their reunions. After graduation, she attended what was then known as Oklahoma A&M at Stillwater. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics on May 28, 1951. Marjorie moved to sayre, Oklahoma to start her teaching career and married Delbert Carnahan on December 5. 1951. They made their home on the family farm north of Sayre. She taught Home Economics in schools at Berlin, Sayre, and Sweetwater. Marjorie was a long time and faithful member of New Liberty Church. She worked Elections for Beckham County, volunteered at the local Library, was a member of the As You Like It Club, and a host of other volunteer organizations.

She was preceded in death by her husband Delbert, parents Francis and Purvis Story, brother Ed Story, sisters Marcelle Droll and Ruth Camille Jackson, in-laws Wilbert and Selma Carnahan.

She is survived by three children, Nancy Griffis and husband Ted of Clarksville, TX, Mike Carnahan and wife Tracy of Sayre, OK, and Laura Mohr and husband Jeff of Wichita, KS; eight grandchildren Sara Russell of Nacogdoches, TX, Katy Griffis and husband Justin Pitts of Denison, TX, Josh Carnahan and wife Maureen of Sayre, OK, Cody Carnahan of Dallas, TX, Tyler Carnahan and wife Macy of Sayre, OK, Zac Carnahan of Oklahoma City, OK, Matt Mohr and wife Krista of Yukon, OK, and Joe Mohr and wife Rebecca of Wichita, KS, nine great grandchildren Taylor Russell, Jack, Mara and Madeline Carnahan, Garin and Brinley Mohr, Amelia and Charlotte Mohr, Isla Carnahan and a host of other relatives and friends.
