JT Dyer

JT Dyer, known by most as “Jake”, was born January 9th, 1936 in Willow, Oklahoma to Zelma (Blankenship) and William Losson Dyer. He passed away at Elk City, Oklahoma on Wednesday, February 14th, 2024 at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 5 days.

Jake grew up in Carter, Oklahoma where he attended and graduated from Carter High School in 1954. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force where he spent the next 23 years where he was a master sargent and was a power production superintendent. It was during this time he was married to Rosalind (Wood) at Topeka, Kansas. Being in the military, the family lived in various states including Florida, New Jersey, Arizona, South Dakota, and Indiana. After his After his discharge he moved to Saracuse, New York where he worked at a power plant. He later moved to the Oklahoma City metro area where he became employed with the United States Postal Service. He later moved to Sayre, Oklahoma where he continued to work for the United States Postal Service until he retired in 1998 after 18 years of delivering the mail. After his second retirement he moved to Willow, Oklahoma where he raised race horses, enjoyed anything dealing with the University of Oklahoma, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded by his parents; his 5 brothers, William, Rosie, Roy, Troy, Charles Dyer; and 1 sister, Martha Mae Barry.

Jake is survived by his daughter, Allison Marshall, Carter, OK; son, Christopher Dyer and wife, Teresa, Carter, OK; 4 grandchildren, Andrew Dyer, Breanna Marshall, Mackenzie Dyer, and Thomas Dyer; 1 great grandson, Phoenix Miller; siblings, Charlene Dyer and Willard Dyer; special friend, Sam Thompson and a host of other relatives and friends.
