Sybil grew up mainly in the Erick, Oklahoma community where she attended school. After her schooling she was married Ben Whipkey and to this union 3 sons were born, Ben, Robert, and Dale Whipkey. She was later married to Burl Babcock and to this union 1 son was born, Michael Babcock. After a number of years of being a homemaker and housewife the was employed outside of the home being a waitress in the late 50’s and early 60’s at various restaurants in the Erick area. In 1976 she attended barber school and obtained her barber license. Sybil moved to California and made a living as a taxi driver in the late 80’s and early 90’s. She later moved back to Amarillo, Texas in the mid 90’s where she worked at Boy’s Ranch before her retirement. In 2021 she returned to Erick, Oklahoma to make her home. She loved painting pictures, puzzles, games, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Babcock; 3 brothers, Hank, Leo, and Kenneth Caudill.
Sybil is survived by her 3 sons, Ben Whipkey, Robert Whipkey, and Dale Whipkey and wife, Sheila; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Whipkey and a host of other relatives and friends.
