Frankie Wade Minton passed from this life on December 25, 2023 at the age of 89. She was born on January 19, 1934, in Sayre, Oklahoma, to James and Bess (Brothers) Wade.

She married Dr. Kermit Minton on April 4, 1959, and they had one daughter, Tammy Lynn Minton on April 29, 1964. Mrs. Minton came to Lindsay in August of 1956 after receiving her Bachelor degree in Business Education at the University of Oklahoma. Later in 1961 she received her Master’s degree in Education at the University of Oklahoma also. She taught business class at Lindsay High School for 35 years. Along with teaching, she sponsored many activities and organizations. The longest of which was the junior/senior class sponsor for nearly all of her 35 years at Lindsay. F.B.L.A. was another one she sponsored. She had many state and national winners and one state officer. At various times, she sponsored the PEP club, annual staff and the L club girls.

She was named Lindsay Teacher of the year in 1972 and later was named Oklahoma teacher of the year in 1973. She was a member of the Oklahoma T.O.Y. group and was very active in education associations. She represented Lindsay and Oklahoma by serving and becoming president of many of the organizations. She was an honorary member of the Lindsay Lions Club and was very active in their service work. She collected eyeglasses, hearing aids and telephones and worked hard in their fund raising. She and Dr. Minton attended two Lions club international meetings. She has also been chairman of the Delta Bus Transit Drive for 14 years. She has a lifetime membership in the OU and OSU alumni associations. She has been a member of the eastern stars for 50 plus years.

Frankie is survived by, her daughter Tammy, her nephew Jimmy Stone and wife Vera, and her nephew Johnny Stone.

She is preceded in death, by her parents, James and Bess Wade, her husband, Dr. Kermit Minton, her brother, Johnny Wade, her sister Eloise Wade Stone and nephew Steve Wade.

Frankie’s proudest moments were when she heard from a former student telling her how they were using what she taught them in school, especially the boys who thought they were never going to type again, then they invented computers.

A funeral service to honor the life of Frankie is set to begin at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma. She will be laid to rest at 3:00 P.M. after the service at the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery in Sayre, Oklahoma.
