Cheryl Eloise Knight was born September 3rd, 1949 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Lena Violet (Heatly) and Dewey Walter McCarty. She passed away in Elk City, Oklahoma on Thursday, December 14th, 2023 at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 11 days.

Cheryl grew up in Moore, Oklahoma where she attended school graduating in 1967. After graduation she began working at William E. Davis Food Services at Will Rogers World Airport. She met a gentleman by the name of Johnny Ralph Knight, Jr. at the Moore Church of Christ and they were later married on September 10th, 1976. They continued to live and raise their children in Moore, Oklahoma. The family moved to Fairview, Oklahoma where John was the minister at the Church of Christ and later to Keyes, Oklahoma. After they both retired they moved to Elk City, Oklahoma in 2003 to be closer to family. Cheryl enjoyed working with pre-school kids, teaching Bible school, baking, being a church secretary, and spending time with her family and friends. Cheryl always held a special place in her heart for the mission work and the spreading of the gospel in Brazil.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one infant brother, Douglas McCarty.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, John, of the home; 1 son, David Knight and wife, Lynn, Amarillo, TX; John’s two sons, Scott Knight and wife, Penny, Oklahoma City, OK and Jeff Knight and wife, Reyes, Maryland; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ann Ellis and husband, Gary, and Karen Sue Latham and husband, Jeff; 2 brothers Mack McCarty and wife, Kathleen, Mark McCarty and wife, Jean and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
