Terry grew up in Cheyenne, Oklahoma where he attended school and graduated in 1976. In his senior year of high school, he was on the All-Star Lineup Roster for basketball. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served until, he was honorably discharged. After his discharge he returned home to Cheyenne. He married Betty (Sadler) on December 15th, 1979, had their son, Shea, and they made their home in Cheyenne. After their divorce in 1984, Terry moved to Watonga, Oklahoma, before moving back to Elk City, Oklahoma where he met Jamie (Anders). They married on July 16th, 1994, where they had their two daughters, ChelseĆ” and Katelynn, they made their home in various places throughout western Oklahoma. Following their divorce in 1996, Terry dedicated his life to raising his children. Terry loved his family more than anything, he was a very generous man who would go out of his way to help anyone. He enjoyed buying and selling vehicles, going to garage sales, western movies, but his passions in life were his family, his dog Gracie, and especially spending time and picking on his grandchildren. Terry loved to tell some wild stories to his kids and grandchildren, whether they were true or not, we don’t know. Terry was baptized and saved in 1973 at the Baptist Church of Cheyenne.
Terry is preceded in death by his mother Gayle Ann, his father Joe Whitson, stepfather Bud Saville, and his grandparents.
Terry is survived by his 3 children and 8 grandchildren. Shea Whitson, wife, Crystal and grandsons, Ethan Garrison, Rylyn Whitson of Sayre, Oklahoma; ChelseĆ” Wilson, husband, Quinton and grandson, Quade Wilson of Canute, Oklahoma; Katelynn Snider, husband, Levi, and granddaughter Shealynn Whitson, grandsons Westyn, Cashyn, Brayson, and Kayson Snider of Burns Flat, Oklahoma; one brother, Danny Whitson of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; one sister, Kristi Whitson of Hitchcock, Oklahoma; aunt, Linda McSperitt, husband, Terry of Watonga, Oklahoma; uncle Mike Whitson of Mustang, Oklahoma ; aunt, Wanda Whitson of Cheyenne, Oklahoma and host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 15th, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Main Street Baptist Church in Elk City, Oklahoma. Address 1100 N Main St, Elk City, Oklahoma 73644
